ROLLS-ROYCE SWEPTAIL: THE ONE AND ONLY

LAST MONTH, ROLLS ROYCE UNVEILED ITS ONE-OF-A-KIND LA SWEPTAIL AT THE VILLA D’ESTE FOR CONCORSO D’ELEGANZA THIS UNIQUE WORK OF ART COULD ONLY BE MADE BY THE ENGLISH AUTOMAKER.

ONLY ONE SWEPTAIL WILL EVER BE MADE, THE DESIGNER OF WHICH IS ALSO ITS OWNER. A PERSON WHO TREATED THEMSELF TO THE ULTIMATE LUXURY OF A BESPOKE ROLLS ROYCE. ESTIMATED PRICE TAG: €11.4 MILLION. HOWEVER, BEYOND THE PRICE, IT IS ABOVE ALL A POWERHOUSE FOR THE EXCEPTIONAL AUTOMAKER WHO WORKED OVER FOUR YEARS STRAIGHT WITH THE SWEPTAIL’S FUTURE OWNER TO DEFINE THIS VEHICLE.

A DESIGN BLENDING THE PAST WITH THE FUTURE

To create this one and only model, the buyer plunged into the brand’s history going back to 1925 with the Phantom I and 1934 with the Pack Ward. Two legendary models that contributed to the renown of Rolls Royce as the “Spirit of Ecstasy”. The inspiration of these two main models gave life to an exceptional Rolls Royce with clean lines blending the brand’s classic style with the new wave from the designer that has been shaking up the British automaker since last year’s presentation of the 103EX. The Sweptail embodies Rolls Royce’s past and future expertise. The owner has without a doubt given new impetus to the automaker.

GLASS ROOF

With this new one-off model, Rolls Royce managed to once again demonstrate its ability to innovate. While the Sweptail clearly uses the ostentatious signs of the Pantheon front grill that Rolls Royce holds so dear, its curved lines resemble, from above, the emblematic Riva yacht. In this respect, the interior of this twoseater coupe is decorated with wood trim reminiscent of the Rolls Royce yachts from 1991 to 1998. A sign. The rest of the interior elegantly combines high-end materials such as polished Macassar ebony and Paldao wood veneers finishing the look with natural colors of wood and leather, a clean design throughout mirroring the exterior of the car. The cabin is fully showcased thanks to a panoramic glass roof installed at the client’s request. The Sweptail is a condensed version of Rolls Royce expertise. It highlights the trend that the brand may infuse into its future models by drawing on the lessons learned from its 103EX concept car launched in 2016. However this unique experience launched by the automaker also serves as a test. Rolls-Royce President Torsten Müller-Ötvös stated: “We are listening carefully to our most special customers and assessing their interest in investing in similar, completely exclusive coachbuilt masterpieces. At the same time we are looking into the resources which will allow us to offer this unique service to these discerning patrons of luxury”. The experience has therefore only begun. Car enthusiasts take note!
