In an update to its flight schedule, Lift Airlines has announced that it will be temporarily pausing its services between Cape Town and Durban for one month, beginning May 7, 2024, and ending on June 12, 2024. The airline has, however, assured its customers that all existing bookings for this period will be honoured, and it will continue to operate its full daily schedule between Durban and Johannesburg, as well as Johannesburg and Cape Town. The airline has also confirmed that it will resume its flights between Cape Town and Durban on June 13, 2024.
In a separate development, FlySafair recently experienced an unfortunate incident where one of its flights had to return to OR Tambo International Airport after suffering wheel damage during take-off. The affected flight, which was headed from Johannesburg to Cape Town, was required to make a U-turn after ground staff reported damage to one of the aircraft’s back wheels. The crew was alerted to the observation, and as a precautionary measure, the decision was made to return to Johannesburg. FlySafair issued a statement, stating that the safety of its passengers and crew is its top priority, and it is taking all necessary measures to ensure their well-being.
